Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Assistant IT Director to lead a talented team of six IT professionals, including Systems Engineers, Desktop Support Analysts, and Project Managers. This individual will play a key leadership role in overseeing our IT infrastructure, driving modernization efforts, and ensuring our organization’s systems are secure, stable, and compliant. The ideal candidate will blend technical expertise, proven leadership abilities, and a hands-on approach to managing and optimizing an organization's IT environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management :
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of six IT professionals across systems engineering, desktop support, and project management roles.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on customer-centric IT service delivery.
  • Develop and execute training plans to address skill gaps and ensure team members remain up-to-date on industry trends.
  1. Network Infrastructure Management :
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's network infrastructure, including servers, switches, routers, and wireless solutions.
  • Ensure consistent network performance and reliability while supporting future scalability.
  • Drive strategic initiatives to modernize legacy systems and mitigate dependencies on outdated technology.
  1. Security and Firewall Management :
  • Maintain and manage current firewalls and security solutions to ensure the protection of sensitive information.
  • Monitor and respond to cybersecurity incidents while implementing changes to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Assess gaps, oversee security audits, and ensure full compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  1. Advanced Technical Support :
  • Act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure and network-related issues, ensuring timely resolution to maintain business continuity.
  • Provide guidance and expertise on IT projects, cloud migrations, and technology modernization efforts.
  1. Project Management :
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to plan and execute IT projects that align with organizational goals.
  • Lead initiatives such as cloud migrations, software upgrades, and AI/automation pilots, ensuring on-time, within-budget completion.
  1. Strategic Planning and Reporting :
  • Work closely with the IT Director to align IT objectives with the organizational strategic vision.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend actionable strategies to enhance the company’s IT capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Technical Expertise :
  • Extensive hands-on experience with network infrastructure components, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless systems.
  • Strong knowledge and practical understanding of security technologies, particularly firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and advanced network problem resolution.
  • Leadership Experience :
  • A proven track record of managing and leading IT teams, preferably including a mix of engineers, analysts, and project managers.
  • Strong ability to inspire trust, build consensus, and align team objectives with organizational goals.
  • Educational & Professional Background :
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CISSP, ITIL, or PMP) are highly desirable.
  • Soft Skills :
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on cross-functional collaboration.
  • A strategic vision for modernizing IT systems and aligning them with business priorities.
  • Business analysis skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholder requirements effectively.
