Role: Technical Writer

Level: Junior - Mid (Min experience – 4-6 yrs)

Duration: 12 Months with potential for extension

Location: Alameda, CA (Hybrid)

Need someone local to Bay Area, who can go to the office as needed

Job Description: The Technical Writer is responsible for generating innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The role is responsible for researching the internal software product(s) built on AWS technologies, document the features, capabilities, processes, procedures, usage, etc. so that the product(s) can be easily understood, and used by a broad technical audience.

• Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension.
• Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.
• Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed.
• Review and analyze existing content and documentation currently in Confluence with the objective of redesign, rewrite and/or reorganize base on the various target audiences
• Analyze information required for the development or update of policy, processes, workflows, procedure and form documentation
• Develop new content and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team.

Qualifications:

• 4-6 years of industry experience as a Technical Writer or Documentation Specialist, using the typical tools of the trade
• Fluency in AWS cloud platform and tools available to Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices
• Working experience in a Software Engineering /Development environment and practices
• Familiarity with Software Engineering / Development tools such as Confluence and Jira
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
• Experience working remotely with a distributed team in the US and across the globe
• Demonstrated ability to work independently to research the subject at hand, as well as work with others one-on-one or in a group to achieve organizational objectives
• Demonstrated ability to produce high quality content and documentation paying attention to details
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
• Excellent English written and oral communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills
• Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
• Ability to multi-task and be a self-starter
• Ability to check all technical material for consistency and accuracy
• Experience with developing process maps and flowcharts.

The salary range provided for this contract role represents our good faith estimate for this position. W ithin the range, individual offers will vary based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, location and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process (W2 or C2C).
