Sr. Scientist, Assay Development (Immunoassay Development)

Status : Contract to Hire

Comp range : $60/hr - $74/hr

Key Responsibilities

This position focuses on the development and optimization of advanced diagnostic assays. Key duties include:

  • Studying the interaction between platform technology and biological systems to improve biomarker detection.
  • Designing and testing new approaches to increase assay sensitivity.
  • Formulating buffers and addressing matrix effects in assay development.
  • Creating complementary methods and developing assay controls/calibrators.
  • Contributing to regulatory planning and documentation.
  • Troubleshooting experiments and refining workflows independently.
  • Keeping detailed electronic lab records in line with quality standards.
  • Presenting findings clearly in both written and verbal formats.
  • Collaborating across departments to meet project goals.
  • Ensuring lab work follows safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Mentoring junior team members and possibly managing direct reports.
  • Leading by example in teamwork, innovation, and scientific rigor.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Qualifications & Skills

Candidates should have:

  • Must have an advanced degree (MS or Phd) with 4 - 8 years of indsutry experience.
  • Expertise in immunoassays and related techniques
  • Solid working experience in a wide variety of protein purification, detection, and identification techniques (e.g. ELISAs, Western Blots, chromatography, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry, enzyme assays).
  • Familiarity with assay development for diagnostic applications.
  • Strong knowledge of protein chemistry and buffer systems.
  • Experience with IVD assay development and regulatory processes.
  • Ability to apply statistical tools to data interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • A collaborative, adaptable approach in fast-paced settings.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive mindset and readiness to take on evolving responsibilities.
