Senior/Principal Engineering Technician, Medical Device

W2 Contract-to-Hire

Salary Range: $77,000 - $83,200 per year

Location: Hayward, CA - Onsite Role

Job Summary:

As a Senior/Principal Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for developing and prototyping devices for delivering high-voltage nanosecond pulsed electric fields. You will also be responsible for taking concepts from early prototypes to volume production, working closely with the engineering team, other departments, and physicians to obtain design feedback in a clinical environment and develop close ties with vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prototype and test concepts for feasibility with urgency.
• Design and/or assist with designing and developing high-volume medical devices that can be manufactured via various known manufacturing techniques.
• Assist the development team with report writing.
• Assist in new product transfer to contract manufacturer including training of staff.
• Aid in materials logistics such as receiving, stocking, and kitting of work orders for in-house or outside manufacturing.
• Maintain thorough records of prototype construction and components/materials selection.
• Ensure a smooth transition of new products into manufacturing.
• Understand the company's quality policy and quality system requirements applicable to tasks.
• Comply with company policies/procedures.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 10+ years of relevant experience with the medical device industry required
• Proficiency with various bonding techniques and soldering small components.
• Experience with catheters is a plus.
• Experience working in a startup environment is a plus.
• Fundamental understanding of mechanisms, materials, adhesives, and high-volume manufacturing techniques.
• Prior experience in ensuring a smooth transition to manufacturing.
• Experience with energy-based delivery systems is a plus.
• Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks CAD, including drafting standards.
• Strong work ethic with a team-oriented mindset.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills and critical thinking skills.
• Exhibit a great attitude and flexibility as a team player who excels in a demanding startup environment.
