Job Description

Position Summary:

The DOT Safety & Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of federal, state, and local compliance related to motor carrier safety. This role ensures adherence to FMCSA regulations, maintains safety standards, and supports company-wide initiatives to foster a safety-first culture. The manager will oversee driver qualification files, Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, drug & alcohol testing, accident investigations, and internal audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and state transportation regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date Driver Qualification Files (DQFs) and ensure timely renewals and updates.
  • Oversee pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing programs in accordance with 49 CFR Part 40.
  • Track Hours of Service violations, manage ELD records using Saucon, and coach drivers on logbook compliance.
  • Lead accident response, documentation, and post-accident drug/alcohol testing procedures.
  • Conduct safety meetings, training sessions, and defensive driving refreshers.
  • Perform internal audits to ensure vehicle inspection records, maintenance files, and DVIRs are in order.
  • Coordinate with operations and dispatch to proactively identify and resolve safety-related issues.
  • Prepare for DOT audits and act as company liaison during inspections or investigations.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with HR, Maintenance, and Operations teams.
  • Ensure that new hire orientation includes safety policy and compliance training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of DOT compliance and safety experience, preferably in the motorcoach or commercial transportation industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of FMCSA regulations, including Parts 382, 383, 391, 392, 393, 395, and 396.
  • Experience managing electronic logging devices (ELDs) and HOS software.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, managers, and regulatory agencies.
  • CDL preferred but not required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Saucon ELD and fleet management systems.
  • Experience conducting training or safety courses for drivers.
  • Knowledge of accident claim handling and insurance documentation.
