Non-profit Program Director

Houston, TX

Our client, a faith-based nonprofit organization serving children in the Houston community, is seeking a Program Director. The hallmark of our client’s mission is an after-school remediation program for at-risk youth dedicated to helping students in grades 1-6 become more successful academically.

Position Summary:

The Program Director is responsible for the overall success of the organization’s after-school program. This demands a unique combination of organizational ability and passion for the mission. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will work collaboratively with two other full-time employees and will manage part-time employees (certified teachers, food service providers, bus drivers, librarian, etc.)

Key components of this role include:

Enrollment & Staffing – Ensures the after-school program is at maximum enrollment capacity and is fully staffed. This requires effective communication and relationships with area schools, parents, and communities.

Program Planning – Accountable for the scheduling and curriculum of the after-school program. This includes consistent evaluation of the online educational programs, teacher effectiveness, and student progress.

Leadership – Point person for the day-to-day operations of the program. This demands a proven ability to deal with ever-changing complexities as they relate to children, parents, and staff in an educational environment.

Compliance – This organization is licensed through the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. In conjunction with the Executive Director, the Program Director must safeguard that all necessary licenses, permits, policies, and procedures are in compliance and held to the highest of standards.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, required
  • 5+ years' experience in the education system
  • 3+ years' experience in education administration
  • Passion for working with underserved children
  • Ability to secure necessary licenses and background checks required
  • Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) is preferred
