Responsibilities:

The Procurement Assistant will support the procurement activities of the Value Added Missouri team specific to the key responsibilities outlined as follows:

• Assist Division manager and related staff in purchasing protein
• Track and manage inventory levels to ensure product availability
• Communicate with suppliers to obtain product information, pricing and availability
• Assist in negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships
• Monitor and follow up on order deliveries to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Assist in resolving discrepancies related to orders, shipments and invoices
• Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and competitive pricing
• Support in analyzing purchasing data and generating reports
• Maintain organized and up to date records of all purchasing activities
• Collaborate with third party quality assurance and warehouse teams to address product concerns

Qualifications:

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, supply chain or a related field
• Minimum two years’ professional experience. Previous experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain management is a plus.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills
• Strong analytical and negotiating skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal team members
• Required occasional travel to meet, negotiate and/or entertain supplier relationships

Reporting Relationship: The Procurement Assistant will report directly to the General Manager, Value Added Division

Start Date: Immediate or another mutually agreed upon date

Location: 1041 Peruque Crossing Court, Suite B, O’Fallon MO – this is an in-office position

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
