Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between upper management and staff.
  • Oversee daily work activities within the unit and provide on-the-job training.
  • Maintain accurate Accounts Receivable and productivity reports.
  • Develop and manage weekly work schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and other medical industry standards.
  • Assist with the implementation of administrative systems and quality control measures.
  • Monitor operational data to optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure billing is submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable via phone calls or carrier websites.
  • Verify the accuracy of adjustments and account balances.
  • Assist internal and external customers with third-party billing inquiries.
  • Address and resolve patient billing concerns.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and recommend personnel actions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned, including emergency-related tasks.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required (college education preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare industry updates.
  • Proficiency in Epic applications .
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology, ICD-9/10, and CPT coding .
  • Familiarity with New York State Third-Party Regulations .
  • Expertise in credit and collection practices .
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills .
  • Strong computer proficiency .
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive interactions tactfully and diplomatically.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) , OR
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) , OR
  • Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCSP) .
