Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a liaison between upper management and staff.
- Oversee daily work activities within the unit and provide on-the-job training.
- Maintain accurate Accounts Receivable and productivity reports.
- Develop and manage weekly work schedules.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and other medical industry standards.
- Assist with the implementation of administrative systems and quality control measures.
- Monitor operational data to optimize efficiency.
- Ensure billing is submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable via phone calls or carrier websites.
- Verify the accuracy of adjustments and account balances.
- Assist internal and external customers with third-party billing inquiries.
- Address and resolve patient billing concerns.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and recommend personnel actions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned, including emergency-related tasks.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required (college education preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management.
- A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare industry updates.
- Proficiency in Epic applications .
- Solid understanding of medical terminology, ICD-9/10, and CPT coding .
- Familiarity with New York State Third-Party Regulations .
- Expertise in credit and collection practices .
- Excellent organizational and communication skills .
- Strong computer proficiency .
- Professional demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive interactions tactfully and diplomatically.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) , OR
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) , OR
- Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCSP) .
