Job Description
Summary:
Responsible for all aspects of employee safety. Administers environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure overall workplace safety and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Leads the safety committee with the assistance and support of the Human Resources and Production Management teams. The EHS Coordinator would be 100% onsite at the Mequon facility. This role may require out of state travel up to 20% or less for trainings, meetings, seminars, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage EHS programs, procedures, and work instructions.
- Conduct necessary internal audits or coordinate external audits to assess environmental, health, and safety risks.
- Follow up on audits to verify completion of corrective actions.
- Create, maintain, and oversee the safety compliance calendar for all regulatory requirements.
- Observe and enforce safety and security procedures.
- Has the authority to document policy violations.
- Address and manage internal safety issues on the production floor.
- Assist with the procurement of safety equipment.
- Review all incidents and follow up with employees as needed.
- Collaborate with HR on safety programs, including but not limited to: Shoe programs, audiograms, safety glasses, first aid, and AED maintenance.
- Increase employee awareness and involvement in workplace safety.
- Develop in-house safety training materials.
- Ensure OSHA compliance and report to OSHA as necessary.
- Manage the worker’s compensation process with the assistance of HR.
- Support injury management plans to help reduce workers' compensation claims and severity.
- Ensure new hire safety training and periodic refresher trainings are completed.
- Serve as Chair of the Safety Committee.
- Coordinate and lead all safety meetings and committee discussions.
Required Skills
- Associate’s degree in a related field is desired
- 3+ years experience within a EHS role or Safety forward role is required.
- Human Resources experience is also desired as this role would be working closely with the Human Resources Manager and will be offloading various EHS tasks from their plate.
- Knowledge of food safety, plastic injection molding, and/or manufacturing practices is desired
Preferred Skills
- OSHA certification preferred.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications are a plus.
