Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a skilled and experienced Electrician to join the data center team of an insurance company in Birmingham, AL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems within critical facilities, possess the ability to perform maintenance and repairs on switchgear and low voltage systems, and is comfortable with working a 4/10 schedule with some weekend work required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, following blueprints and technical diagrams
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to plan layout and installation of electrical systems
• Install and connect electrical panels, outlets, switches, lighting, and other electrical components.
• Ensure adherence to National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes
• Test electrical systems using tools like multimeters, ohmmeters, and other testing devices to ensure safe operation
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other tradespeople to complete projects on time
• Troubleshoot electrical systems to ensure functionality and safety, identifying issues and performing necessary repairs

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of electrical experience in critical facilities.
• Proven experience with switchgear maintenance.
• Expertise in low voltage systems (600 volts).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations.
• Proficiency with electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical schematic
• Physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, heights, and adverse weather conditions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multiple projects at once

Preferred Qualifications:

• Journeyman Electrician certification.

Compensation:

$52,000 per year annual salary. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
