Opportunity

The CFO will direct all financial and accounting and related administrative activities of the company to support profitable growth while ensuring that effective and efficient management and accounting controls are in place.

The CFO will provide strategic and tactical leadership and direction to the financial affairs of the corporation, including Accounting, Analysis, Auditing, Risk Management, Taxes, Treasury and Financial Planning.

Key Responsibilities

The CFO, with the President/CEO and appropriate division & company heads, will develop and implement an economic strategy for each company/entity and a comprehensive strategy for all combined entities, to create a global strategy to achieve ongoing financial success and stability.

Corporate and General

  • Creation and presentation of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Develop financial strategies and needs of each business unit.
  • Develop unified financial strategy for all combined business units.
  • Oversee preparation and filing of all local, state and federal tax returns.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial institutions’ banking requirements.
  • Oversee/administrate Benefits Process and Oversee required 401K and payroll audits.
  • Oversee Payroll.
  • Oversee and manage all accounting personnel.
  • Point of contact for Lawsuits, Insurance Claims and Incidents.
  • IT
  • Mentor and develop a team, managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate legal compliance.
  • Treasury Management Services.

Property Management

  • Ensure compliance regarding all financial functions.
  • Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for managed properties.
  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts and overhead cost allocation.
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.
  • Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
  • Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal and local laws regarding company operations.
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process.
  • Help establish new services and reporting for new 3rd Party management contracts.

Development

  • Participate in closings for new development and new construction, property acquisitions/ dispositions and re-financings.
  • Manage and expand banking relationships and ensure compliance with loan covenants and guaranty requirements.
  • Cash management strategy for predevelopment costs, bank fundings/closings, and asset dispositions.

Construction Services

  • Monthly accounting reports.
  • Manage financial aspects of construction accounting: AR, payables, retainage, WIP, etc.
  • Risk management through involvement in insurance placement and renewal, tracking of open liabilities/statutes of repose, etc.

Professional Building Services and Leasing

  • Monthly accounting reporting.
  • Manage financial aspects of construction accounting: AR, payables, retainage, WIP, etc.
  • Risk management through involvement in insurance placement and renewal, tracking of open liabilities/statutes of repose, etc.
  • Inventory tracking and auditing.

Professional Experience/Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree is required. A graduate degree will be an asset.
  • A finance designation (e.g. CPA, CFA, MBA) is required.
